ABOUT ME

Edgy Metal is the brainchild of Jewellery Designer Peter Noble (that’s me!).

The first thing I ever made was a birthday present for my wife. It was strewn with hidden meaning and symbolism; from Egyptian and Roman influences to a birth stone and symbols of femininity and family. I really did get quite carried away. But it was a huge success and I was spurred on to make more. Initially I made other highly personalised pieces for family and friends, until one day I was asked to make a collection for a local Jewellery store, then another for an Art Gallery… It was still a hobby at that point, but when I was made redundant from my ‘normal’ job at Christmas in 2015, the true force of Edgy Metal was unleashed.

My style? It’s impulsive and intuitive.

I work at my projects until I’m satisfied that I’ve produced jewellery that feels as good as it looks.

Small and dainty don’t really do it for me. And I’d rather not recreate something that’s already been done. I like my jewellery to make an impact. All of my pieces are hand designed and made to the highest standard. My bespoke pieces are often personalised to a degree very rarely available elsewhere

INFLUENCES

My influences vary greatly.

Family, emotions, nature…

I love a ‘clever’ design. Add beautiful in there and we’ve hit the nail on the head. Jewellery should tell a story and each of my designs is loaded with meaning. Take my story and run with it or attribute one of your own.

But always choose jewellery with an edge.

The First!

This is the first piece of jewellery I ever made.

I loved how it turned out and my wife was over the moon.

I presented it to her after the birth of our first child. The top third is made up of three Egyptian symbols (‘n’ means 10). The middle is a Roman ‘X’. The bottom of the pendant is an Egyptian Ankh (my wife and I got engaged inside one of the pyramids in Egypt – yes, actually inside. And yes, it was pitch black…) with a triangular Tzavorite Garnet – the birthstone of both mother and child. I decided the shape of the stone because the triangle is the symbol of femininity.

Finally, and most symbolic of all, it represents the three of us holding on to each other.

HANDMADE

All designed and handmade on the stunning North East Coast of England, my designs often start out carved from jeweller’s wax.

Silver hand crafted arms, silver locket, hand made jewellery, artisan jewellery, handcrafted silver angel arms, metal work, jewellery design

Only once I’m absolutely happy with the design is it made into a delft clay or lost wax mould, into which Sterling silver or gold is cast. They’re all then lovingly hand worked, and hand finished before making their way to you.

Why not have a read of my blog to see exactly how some of my more adventurous pieces came to be?

HALLMARKING

Quality is right up at the top of my ‘important stuff’ list, which is why all pieces of jewellery from Edgy Metal are hallmarked by Edinburgh Assay Office.
