Aphrodite Beach Stone Ring
Yes we are aware of the stones uncanny resemblance to a slug!… That was the code name of this project during lengthy consultations in my design consultation suite (pub!).
Gordon found me on Google maps, he’s local to Whitley Bay so meeting up was easy. He showed me two stones he’d picked up from a Cypriot beach he’d walked with his wife 10 years ago. Over our first pint he told me his idea to turn one of the stones into a piece of jewellery he secretly planned to give to his wife as a fantastically sentimental 40th anniversary present.
Naturally we immediately gravitated towards a grey slug looking design! …actually we didn’t, the first idea was a ring but the stone was to be faceted.
Gordon and I agreed that the stone was crying out for a more natural and organic shape.
Stone setting done, it was time for shaving off bulk without losing the rings fluidity or integrity.
