This is the third piece…

…In the Blue Trident collection. The 11.5ct cushion cut Swiss Blue Topaz is set into a custom-made curved triangular setting on a 2″ wide 1.5mm thick bespoke Sterling silver cuff. The stone was set using the same method as the stone in the pendant – so as little of the stone is obscured by the metal as possible.

I thought it might be good to have it look cool from underneath. These cut-outs have the added effect of increasing the light passing through the stone… I had to be careful here to retain as much strength as possible – we really don’t want the cuff relieving it’s self of the precious Topaz cargo when the wearer flexes the metal to put it on! No thank you!!

This Topaz is a deep stone and a tall setting was required to house it. The 90° step of the setting bothered me slightly, I really wanted to add 4 or 5 horizontal tapered fins going from the top edge of the step down to each side where the edges curve away. However, adding more metal at this point would have pushed the weight to medieval torture levels… we don’t want Denise suffering back trouble or finding herself walking in ever decreasing circles.
